Ingratitude:
Lk 17, 11 – 19 As he continued his journey to Jerusalem, he traveled through Samaria
and Galilee. 12As he was entering a village, ten lepers met. They stood at a distance from him and
raised their voice, saying: "Jesus, Master! Have pity on us!". And
when he saw them, he said: "Go show yourselves to the
priests." As they were going they were cleansed. And one of them, realizing he had
been healed, returned, glorifying God in a loud voice; and he fell at the
feet of Jesus and thanked him. He was a Samaritan. Jesus said in reply,
"Ten were cleansed, were they not? Where are the other nine? Has none
but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?" Then he said to him,
"Stand up and go; your faith has saved you."
2 Tim 3, 2 People will be self-centered and lovers of money, proud, haughty,
abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, irreligious
- Ungrateful to God
- Ungrateful to parents
- Ungrateful
for the favors received (rights or favors)
The consequences of
ingratitude:
Heb 10, 29 – 31 Do you not think that a much worse punishment
is due the one who has contempt for the Son of God, considers unclean the
covenant-blood by which he was consecrated, and insults the spirit of grace? We
know the one who said:"Vengeance is mine; I will repay,"and again: "The
Lord will judge his people." It
is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
How to thank?
• How do
we thank God every day?

we thank the priests and the Church?

we thank our intercessors?
• How do
we thank our relatives?
• Thanks
to our teachers
• Thanks
for the education
• Thanks
for the work.
• Thanks
for our friends and enemies: the way to holiness
• Thank
God for the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother
• Thanks
be to God for the care of the angels and for the intercession of the saints
• Thank
God for the temptations
• Thank God for difficulties, illnesses,
anguish, grief, etc.
#313 Thank you, Lord, for-by allowing
temptation-you also give us the beauty and strength of your grace, that we
may be overcomers! Thank you, Lord,
for the temptations you allow us to be humble!
Forging, St Josemaría
Escrivá de Balaguer
Thank God for the triumph in Christ:
2 Cor 2, 14 – 16 But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in
Christ and manifests through us the odor of the knowledge of him in
every place. For we are the aroma of Christ for God among those who are being
saved and among those who are perishing, to the latter an odor of death that leads to death, to the former an
odor of life that leads to life.
The Thanksgiving of the Blessed Virgin Mary:
Lk 1, 46 – 55 And Mary said:"My soul proclaims the
greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior. For he has looked
upon his handmaid's lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me
blessed. The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
His mercy is from age to age to those who fear him…
#268 Get
used to raising your heart to God, in thanksgiving, many times a day.
"Because it gives you this and that." "Because they have
despised you." "Because you do not have what you need or you have
it." -Because she made her Mother so beautiful, who is also your Mother.
"Because he created the sun and moon and that animal and that other plant.
-Because he made that man eloquent and made you primal ... Thank him for
everything, because everything is good.
Way, St. Josemaría Escrivá
de Balaguer
The
grateful heart:
Ps 100, 4 – 5 Enter his gates
with thanksgiving,
his courts with praise. Give thanks to him, bless his
name; good indeed is the Lord, his mercy endures forever, his
faithfulness lasts through every generation.
Closing prayer…
