Purpose of message:
As we meditate and unite with together in Christ´s death and resurrection we will find hope and a resurrected life.

From death to life:

John 11: 34 – 44  …¨Where have you laid him? ¨They said to him, ¨Sir, come and see. ¨ And Jesus wept. So the Jews said, ¨See how he loved him. ¨ But some of them said, ¨Could not the one who opened the eyes of the blind man have done something so that this man would not have died? So Jesus, perturbed again, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone lay across it. Jesus said, ¨Take away the stone. ¨ Martha, the dead man´s sister, said to him, ¨Lord, by now there will be a stench; he has been dead for four days. ¨ Jesus said to her, ¨Did I not tell you that if you believe you will see the glory of God? ¨ So they took away the stone. And Jesus raised his eyes and said, ¨Father, I thank you for hearing me. I know that you always hear me; but because of the crowd here I have said this, that they may believe that you sent me. ¨ And when he had said this, he cried out in a loud voice, ¨Lazarus, come out! ¨The dead man came out, tied hand and foot with burial bands, and his face was wrapped in a cloth. So Jesus said to them, ¨Untie him and let him go. ¨

Witnesses of the resurrected life:

John 11, 45 Now many of the Jews who had come to Mary and seen what he had done began to believe in him.

The persecution that comes after the resurrection:

John 11, 53 So from that day on they planned to kill him. (Jesus)

John 12, 9 – 11 The large crowd of Jews found out that he was there and came, not only because of Jesus, but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. And the chief priests plotted to kill Lazarus too, because many of the Jews were turning away and believing in Jesus because of him.

The reactions to the resurrection of Christ:

  • Mary Magdalene
  • Peter and John
  • The disciples
  • Thomas
  • The Jews

How to live a resurrected life:

  • Example of St. Peter

Acts 2, 40 – 41 He testified with many other arguments, and was exhorting them, ¨Save yourselves from this corrupt generation. ¨ Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand persons were added that day.

Acts 2, 42 – 47 They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers. Awe came upon everyone, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. All who believed were together and had all things in common…

Conclusion:

Gal. 2, 19 – 20 I have been crucified with Christ, yet I live, no longer I, but Christ lives in me; insofar as I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God who has loved me and given himself up to me.
